  The Tax Doctor - Dale has done my taxes for business and home several years now and like many tax people.... they get swamped around tax time. But - he know his stuff and does a very excellent job on our taxes. Best tax guy I have had in 30 years of business and home taxing situations.

  Wish I could choose NO STARS for this review. Still in disbelief with how I was treated this morning. I had an appointment at 11:00 a.m. to have my taxes done at the Tax Dr. in Seymour with Dale Rhoades – written down on my desk, added to my online calendar and reminders set in my phone. At 10:20 I received a voicemail from them saying that I was late for my appointment at 10:00 – I immediately called them back at 10:26 (when I was getting in my car to go to my 11:00 appointment). Dale answered and I said, “Good morning, Dale, how are you this morning?” His reply, “Well, sitting here waiting for you to show up at your 10:00 appointment.” (Insert sarcastic laugh from him) My reply, “I’m sorry I had my appointment scheduled for 11:00.” Sarcastic reply, “Not here, you don’t.” (Insert another sarcastic laugh) At this point I’m a little set back by his unprofessionalism. I asked if I could reschedule and he says, “Well how much stuff do you have?” My reply, “I have my W2s and all of our paperwork in line, along with my husband’s sole prop paperwork.” Him, “What kind of business?” Me, “He has a sign business remember?” (Insert sarcastic laugh AGAIN), “I have 500 customers, how am I supposed to remember you? Have you been here before?’ (SIDE THOUGHT / NOT SAID TO HIM – if I had a 10:00 appt that I’m late to, wouldn’t you have my file open on your computer already???) “Yes, Dale, we came for the first time last year, you’ve been doing my parents (insert their names) taxes for 10-15 years.” His reply, “How do you expect me to remember, I have 500 customers to keep track of!” (Another sarcastic laugh) My reply, “Why are you being so rude to me?” He replies, “I’m NOT being rude to you, if you don’t want to bring your business here, you don’t have to!” AND HANGS UP ON ME! I call back – sent to voicemail immediately. I wait 10 minutes and call back – his wife answers and says that Dale no longer wants to do my taxes. My reply was very calm and she was very nice to me, “I’m not even sure what just happened. I was about to say something and he hung up on me.” She said that she only heard half of the conversation. I asked if I could pick up my files and she explained that they needed to keep them on file (understandable). So I said that I would try and locate my files from last year and if I couldn’t would be happy to BUY a copy from them for my records. She said that would be fine and that she would talk to Dale, to see if he had changed his mind. At this point, I’m in tears with anger – you don’t treat people that way! You especially don’t treat return customers that way. I have grown up in this community and believe in using local businesses when we can – I can guarantee you one thing – This is one local business that I do NOT recommend to anyone! The way I was treated over the phone and talked down to is completely uncalled for an unacceptable. I feel bad for those people that feel they have no choice to choose a different service provider for taxes – you do and if anyone disrespects you the way that he did to me – GO ELSEWHERE! You just DON’T treat people that way! EVER! 30 minutes later his office called back and said that he would do my taxes – if I dropped them off! Really??? You are going to treat me in such a way and then expect NOT to sit across the desk from me when I’m using YOUR service for MY taxes. No thank you – you will never see me or collect another fee from me again. I should’ve known last year when his arrogance exuded the office that I was in the wrong place.
